Do you have open shelves in your kitchen, or some empty countertop space that needs some decor? Cookbooks are such an easy and practical item to use for kitchen decor! You can stack them, lean them against a wall or the backsplash, add one to a cookbook stand on your kitchen counter…and most importantly, you can actually USE them!
I really started collecting cookbooks a few years ago, mainly because I love searching through them for new recipe ideas! Whenever I’m out shopping and I see one that catches my eye I’ll usually grab it, especially if it is on sale! Our local grocery store has actually been a great place to find popular cookbooks on sale! Another place I love to look for cookbooks is at Costco!! They have some of the best ones I’ve found and they are always at a great price! I’ve also noticed that Costco usually has a great selection of plant-based diet cookbooks.
I feel like celebrities are also always coming out with new cookbooks now, and they are usually really good! Some of my favs that I have listed below are from Jillian Harris and Chrissy Teigen…oh and of course the Magnolia Cookbooks are must-haves for any Kitchen!
Below I’m sharing my Favorite Cookbooks of 2022 that also look great in your Kitchen!
The Top 10 Cookbooks of 2022 that Double as Kitchen Decor
1. True Comfort by Kristen Cavallari
This is one of my all time favorite cookbooks!! And for a few reasons: 1. Everything I have made from it has been absolutely delicious, and pretty simple to make (my favorite brussels sprouts of all time); and 2. All of the recipes are HEALTHY! Everything is gluten free, dairy free and sugar free, meaning I can eat it all! If I could only choose one cookbook to use for the rest of my life, this would be it!
Kristen Cavallari does have another cookbook, True Roots that is definitely on my list to buy, but I haven’t tried it yet.
2. Half Baked Harvest Super Simple by Tieghan Gerard
If you are looking for a healthy, delicious and QUICK meal to make for dinner, this is your book! Most of the recipes in this book are super simple (hence the name) one pot, sheet pan, instant pot…recipes that you can quickly whip up. They are all unique and so so good! I can usually easily swap out and ingredients that have gluten or dairy for something else when I need to, and there are many vegan and vegetarian options. My favorites are the Curried Thai Spring Roll Lettuce Wraps and the Falafel Bowl with Avocado and Lemon Tahini. The photos in this book are also so pretty!
Also make sure to try the original Half Baked Harvest Cookbook: Recipes from My Barn in the Mountains for more yummy ideas, and she also has a great Instagram account to follow!
3. Cravings: Hungry for More by Chrissy Teigen
Ok Chrissy Teigen’s cookbooks aren’t the healthiest by myyy goddd is the food good! There are some recipes where it is easier to swap out some ingredients for healthier ones though, or add in some extra veggies. But if you’re looking for some indulgent comfort food this is a great book! Everything is so unique too, and the way she writes her recipe descriptions just cracks me up! My favorite recipe in this book that we make often is the Garlic Honey Shrimp! I usually add broccoli or cauliflower rice and it is soooo good!
She also has two other cookbooks that I haven’t tried yet – the OG Cravings and her newest cookbook Cravings: All Together: Recipes to Love: A Cookbook
4. Magnolia Table by Joanna Gaines
This has become a classic! It’s another one that isn’t necessarily healthy but there is some great food in here! The banana bread is the BEST! And the chicken enchiladas are sooo creamy and cheesy and delicious!
Gaine’s second cookbook, Magnolia Table, Volume 2: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering, has some great recipes for holidays and larger groups!
5. Fraiche Food, Full Hearts: A Collection of Recipes for Every Day and Casual Celebrations: A Cookbook by Jillian Harris
This is one of my favorite vegan cookbooks because Jillian took some classics, like a bolognese sauce, and put a delicious vegan twist on it! The recipes are like healthy comfort food, and the photos are so pretty to look at! She also put together menus for different holidays so you know exactly what to serve together for big gatherings!
6. Well+Good Cookbook: 100 Healthy Recipes + Expert Advice for Better Living by Alexia Brue and Melisse Gelula
I love the variety in this cookbook! It’s comprised of 100 recipes by different athletes, health, wellness, and culinary celebrities, and each recipe notes if it promotes better skin, sleep, mood, energy, focus, digestion, sex, etc. There are a ton of simple, quick and healthy recipes that these people eat in their every day lives – from the perfect green smoothie to ancient grain bowls.
7. Love and Lemons Every Day: More than 100 Bright, Plant-Forward Recipes for Every Meal: A Cookbook by Jeanine Donofrio
This is another one of my favorite vegan cookbooks! There are so many imaginative but still simple ways to cook plant based meals here. There are a lot of colorful infographics, like a matrix for five ingredient salad dressings, or different ways to make avocado toast or how to roast veggies…so there is so much more than just recipes in here!
The Love and Lemons Cookbook: An Apple-to-Zucchini Celebration of Impromptu Cooking is another great cookbook by the same author, and I love how it is organized by ingredient, so you can easily figure out what to make based on what you have at home!
8. Healthyish: A Cookbook with Seriously Satisfying, Truly Simple, Good-For-You (but not too Good-For-You) Recipes for Real Life by Lindsay Maitland Hunt
I just love how bright and colorful this book is! AND there are some great recipes! I also love how there is a “special diets index” so you can easily look up recipes based on your dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free…). The recipes are straight forward, quick to make, and easy to clean up afterwords – perfect for people with busy life styles that still want a healthy home cooked meal! Or for those night that you just don’t feel like making something complicated. Lots of great smoothie recipes too!
9. Platters and Boards: Beautiful, Casual Spreads for Every Occasion by Shelly Westerhausen
This is a fun one to keep out, especially if you like to make big charcuterie boards for holidays and parties! I’ve really been getting into that lately! They are pretty easy to throw together and everyone loves to be able to snack on it all night long! If you are looking for tips on meat and cheese pairings, dips and sauce ideas, or just how to lay it all out, definitely check out this book! I also love all of the different varieties, from breakfast spreads with scones and jams, to dessert spreads, to veggies and hummus…it’s not just about meats and cheeses!
10. 100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More by Sarah Kieffer
Ok I had to throw a dessert cookbook in here! If you love cookies (and who doesn’t love cookies?!) this is for you! This cookbook has every type of cookie recipe you can think of and more! Perfect for the holidays when you’re tired of making the same types over and over! This cookbook is so beautiful and would also make a great gift!
