This post features a variety of fire pit seating ideas for every type of outdoor space and every budget.

Fire pit season is just around the corner—well, as soon as this moody spring weather decides to go away. I don’t know about you, but there are few things I enjoy more than spending time with my family outside, especially during warm summer nights.
A few years ago, we actually had the idea to make our own propane fire pit. It was such a fun project and was fully worth the time and monetary investment. Since we finished it, we’ve had countless sunsets and nights spent by it. If you’re at all curious about the DIY project, you can read more about it here.
Regardless of the type of fire pit you have in your space, one thing that’s for sure is that you’ll need some comfortable seating around it. While there are several types of patio furniture that would work, it can almost feel overwhelming because there are too many options.
If you’re unsure of what type of seating arrangement to put around your outdoor fire pit, this post is for you. Here, I’m sharing over 50 fire pit seating ideas to help you cozy up your space. Once you pick your favorite, you can look forward to spending crisp evenings around the fire (with a cocktail or some s’mores in hand, of course!)

Fire Pit Seating Ideas
1. Adirondack Chairs
Starting with perhaps the most frequently used fire pit seating choice: Adirondack chairs. There’s a reason why this particular style is so popular—they’re comfortable, they offer a timeless look, and they hold up really well from season to season.
Another thing I love about Adirondack chairs is that they can easily be jazzed up by adding throw pillows to the base. You could also drape an outdoor blanket over the arm of the chair or along the back.

2. Classic Patio Chairs
If you want to keep things really simple, consider arranging some basic patio chairs around your fire pit. This is a good option if you want to repurpose chairs from an outdoor dining table or porch area that you no longer use. Anything goes, but I’m sharing some recent finds that caught my eye.

3. Outdoor Rocking Chairs
There’s something about a rocking chair that feels particularly inviting, and these finds are no exception. I often see this style of chair on front porches, but they really are just as great for backyard use. Because they have a bigger structure, you might be able to get away with adding just two or three around your outdoor fire pit, offering a good option if you’re shopping on a tighter budget.
After summer is over (and when you won’t be using your fire pit as much) bring them around the your front porch or set them underneath a covered patio.

4. Love Seats + Benches
Looking for a seating idea that makes a bigger statement? Try a love seat or a bench—both offer a more unexpected look while remaining practical. Set two love seats on either side of your fire pit to create ample seating room that feels well balanced and proportionate.
Another idea: Add a bench on one side of the fire pit and a couple of chairs to the other side. This combo offers a lot of visual interest and can lead to a more “styled” feel in your yard.

5. Oversized + Circular Shapes
Speaking of unexpected, how fun would a circular shaped chair look in a backyard? A lot of circular chairs have a more boho and laid-back feel, making them ideal for outdoor use. If that’s not necessarily your thing, try a round outdoor daybed or lounge chairs. Either way you go, make sure your selection has cushioned seats so can relax in comfort.

6. Comfortable Cushioned Chairs
Last but not least, you truly can’t go wrong with cushioned lounge chairs. These classic picks combine style with function, and they are all made to last. It also doesn’t hurt that they have a streamlined look that will age well over the years.
I’d highly recommend looking for options that have removable slip covers on the cushions—that way you can wash them and spruce them up from season to season.
Also, if you find an outdoor chair that you love but it’s missing a comfort factor, shop around for seat cushions that are sold separately. They’re surprisingly easy to find and are fairly affordable!
