Happy Wednesday! We made it to the halfway point in the week! Yay! I don’t know about you, but I feel like the weeks have been flying by. It’s just such a busy time of the year! I can’t believe Christmas is only 2 weeks away! Today I am going to be showing you the Christmas decor that is up around my house. Plus, I am also going to be sharing the brown paper scroll that I DIYed and do my best to explain how I did it!
First, I am going to be giving you a little house tour! I will be honest, I don’t have a ton of Christmas decor around my house. I mainly have it in my dining room area, entryway and a little in my living room and kitchen. Although I tend to be pretty simple when it comes to decor, this year I have tried to step it up a notch. However, next year I plan on adding even more! I want to add garland in more places but it’s expensive, so I am hoping to buy some on clearance after Christmas is over! That is my favorite time to stock up on Christmas decor because there are so many great after Christmas sales!
Entryway
Here is my entryway. I mainly just added a bunch of little trees and white ceramic houses! I really like the way this turned out this year! I have always loved little Christmas villages and I feel like these white houses are the cutest to create a little village of your own! The lit up trees to the side of the table can be found at Walmart here! The rest of the smaller trees are all from Target. The burlap ones can be found here. And the small ones are the Hearth and Hand brand and can be found here. Lastly, the trees in baskets can be found here.
The bench in my entryway is one of my favorite pieces in my house! My mom had it for a long time and recently passed it down to me! It fits this space perfectly! I got the hanging basket at Target (unfortunately, it’s not on their site anymore) and same with that cute little truck pillow (it was in the dollar section last year)!
Living Room
My living room is far from perfectly decorated. Almost everything I used was stuff I had from previous years, minus the stockings (which are Hearth and Hand from this year) and some of the little trees by the fireplace. Other than that we already had everything.
Our tree is not the prettiest! However, that was not my goal. We love this tree. It has so much sentimental value. We bought this tree at Walmart 7 years ago and it still lights up and works perfectly (Walmart has really good quality trees and they are the cheapest I have found). Anyways, we have had this tree for most of our marriage and we love decorating it with all of the ornaments that we have been given throughout the years and ones from our childhood! They aren’t super pretty but all of these ornaments are so special to us and have meaning behind them. So the tree may not be the prettiest, but it’s staying! Ha! And I am sure a lot of you can relate!
Kitchen
My kitchen has very minimal decor, but here is a picture of what we have! It’s simple, but adds a touch of Christmas to the space! The wreath is from target!
Dining Room
Last is the dining room. This is my favorite room in my house! I bought a flocked tree to put in here this year and I absolutely love it! It is from Walmart and is pre-lit and has pine cones throughout! It really transforms this space and makes it feel so warm and cozy! I have already linked everything on my table in my Christmas Tablescape post!
Paper Scroll
I also made the scroll that is hanging along the stairway, which can be seen from most areas of my house! Overall, I am super happy with the way it turned out. I have the worst handwriting, so honestly anyone can make one of these! My scroll is 30 inches wide and can be found on Amazon!
The first thing I did was draw lines like you would see on a kindergarten worksheet where they are learning to draw their letters! I did 3 lines for each row and that allowed me to make sure each letter was the same height.
Then I wrote everything out in pencil first. After that, I traced over it with sharpie and made parts of each letter bold so that it gives the look of calligraphy.
The most important part when DIYing the scroll is you need to find a picture of what you want your letters to look like and use that as your guide! I found a picture off of pinterest of a chalk board that said “Unto us a child is born” so I just copied how they drew the letters and spaced out the words! It definitely doesn’t look professional, but it’s good enough for me! Overall, it was a very simple project! I am excited that I have a ton more roll left so I can do a different design once Christmas is over!
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas Decor home tour! Let me know if I didn’t link anything or if you have any other questions. Also, don’t forget to check out Rachel’s Christmas Home Decor post!
